This year we are very excited to have Prof. Hal Sosabowski presenting his dynamic Chemistry show during our conference BBQ.
In this event Professor Hal Sosabowski with his team (Sideshow Lily, Sideshow Harsha and Sideshow Kane) will present shock-and-awe (with a sprinkling of surprise-and delight) when they take us on a journey from our comfort zone of balmy English summer to the frigid depths of -196 °C. Cheap buckets from B&Q will be blown up, biscuits will be conflagrated with the terrifying oxidizing power of liquid oxygen, and the Leidenfrost Effect examined. We might also make some liquid nitrogen ice cream.

Hal Sosabowski was Professor of Public Understanding of Science at the University of Brighton for 28 years and has an international programme of science engagement. He has toured Russia, Europe and the Middle eat, and. Curiously was the only scientists to be allowed to cause explosions in Parliament. Unlike Guido Fawkes, Prof Hal’s explosive did work. Hal is currently a visiting lecturer at RHUL.
